Week 36: March 16, 2020

Hey all,

Some random events from this week:

-A chinese girl told me my fortune on the street (apparently my future job really fits me but that's all she told me haha)

-Went shopping like 800 times trying to find all the nonperishable foods and toilet paper before it was all gone haha

-Had a movie night (watched the Joseph Smith movie :))

-Had like no lessons cause Chinese people are too afraid to leave their flats haha

I know everyone is talking about the Coronavirus, but it's really starting to destroy missionary work, even here in England. I'm sure everyone knows that church is canceled worldwide, and that general conference is being broadcast now. But in Manchester all the universities are being shut down now or starting up online classes because of the virus. Theres quite a few students in the 3 main universities in Manchester that have contracted the virus, which means a lot of our friends, including our Chinese friends, are either leaving the country or dont really want to leave their flats. It's so sad to see the work just start coming to a screeching halt. My companions and I (and really everyone in the mission) are getting ready to be quarantined because that seems like a pretty likely possibility right now. England apparently isn't doing a very good job handling the virus so its guessed that between 60-80% of the people in the UK will get the virus at some point. So I'm just accepting my fate right now haha

Yesterday instead of going to church, we had a devotional with all the missionaries in our zone. And my zone leader shared this scripture. John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." No matter how discouraging things might be in the world sometimes, theres always peace in Christ. In the world ye SHALL have affliction, but in Christ we MIGHT have peace. We just need to turn to Him. 爱你们哦！
